The arrest of popular YouTuber and vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, also known as Jyoti Rani, has sparked controversy across the country. Accused of sharing sensitive information and maintaining contact with a Pakistani citizen, she is now at the center of a serious investigation. While many are quick to label her a “spy,” her father, Haris Malhotra, has finally spoken up, strongly denying all allegations against his daughter.

“Travel Doesn’t Make Someone a Spy,” Says Father
Speaking to the media, Haris Malhotra made it clear that traveling to Pakistan with legal documents does not prove any wrongdoing. He said that Jyoti had received proper clearance, including a visa and embassy approval, before visiting Pakistan. “Just because someone travels to another country, it doesn’t mean they are a spy,” he said. “Even I don’t go anywhere without proper permission.”
Visa Was Granted After Proper Verification
Haris added that before Jyoti was allowed to visit Pakistan, authorities had visited their home and conducted background checks. Only after all investigations turned out clean, she was granted permission. “Two people were called as witnesses, and all formalities were completed,” he explained.
Changing Statements Raise Questions
Earlier, Jyoti’s father had said that she used to travel only to Delhi. But later, he admitted that she had visited Pakistan a few times. In a conversation with news agency ANI, he confirmed that Jyoti used to make YouTube videos and had indeed visited Pakistan. However, he insisted she did so with proper documents and legal permission.
Police Seize Phones and Documents
Haris also said that the police raided their home and seized several personal items including phones, laptops, passports, and bank documents. “We have no demands—just give us back our phones,” he said.
What Are the Allegations?
According to reports, Jyoti Malhotra is suspected of:
● Being in contact with a Pakistani citizen named Ahsan-ur-Rahim
● Meeting him in Delhi
● Traveling to Pakistan twice
● Allegedly sharing sensitive information
Authorities are still investigating the depth of her connections and the nature of the information exchanged.
The Bigger Picture
The case has raised concerns about national security and social media misuse. It also shows how easy it is for public figures with digital influence to come under scrutiny if they cross international boundaries—especially involving countries with tense relations like India and Pakistan.
While investigations are ongoing, the truth is yet to be fully uncovered. Her family continues to maintain that Jyoti is innocent and has done nothing illegal.
